What Sets Us Apart
Fast, Dependable, Quality Sharpening — Because Every Minute Matters:
At Simply Sharp we are lovers of preparing food, and know the knife is the most essential tool in any kitchen. As a locally owned small business we know time is the most important factor to you. We guarantee prompt delivery and pick up of all knives and are available for any issues you encounter with our service.
A Focus on blade Quality
We provide superior knives than our competitors
Our competitors provide cheap knives with heavy and thick blades. Simply Sharp provides knives that are better balanced, with a better blade geometry.
Blade Balance
A heavy blade is unbalanced and takes a lot of energy to move, tiring out your arm as you use it, over and over, and over, throughout the day. By providing a better balanced blade Simply Sharp gives you a way to prevent fatigue and soreness in your kitchen staff. A blade balanced near the handle allows you more control while using the knife. A blade balanced away from the handle is like using a hammer.
Our Chef Knives
5.71 oz
8.29 oz
Our Competitors’ Chef Knives
7.55 oz
8.18 oz
Our knives are balanced at the end of the handle, where you grip the blade.
Their knives are balanced over an inch from where you hold the blade.
Superior Geometry
Our blades are thinner than our competitors. A thinner blade is a superior cutting geometry. A thinner blade offers low cutting resistance, need less force, and feels more “glidey.” A thinner blade has less metal that needs to be pushed through what you are cutting, requiring less force, and less chance of splitting or cracking what you are cutting..
The Simply Sharp process provides a sturdier edge, that stays sharp longer:
Have you ever had a knife go dull after only a day or two of use in your kitchen? When I worked in kitchens I saw this happen regularly with knives we rented. Where we needed to hone The answer is the way our competitors sharpen their knives, and the way they deliver them to you.
Our sharpening process is designed to give you a longer lasting edge. At Simply Sharp our sharpening process fully removes the burr from each knife. We take pride that every knife we sharpen is fully stropped and deburred; giving you a lasting edge that does not require honing on a steel or your own pull through sharpener
A burr is a thin ridge of metal that forms on the opposite side of a knife's edge while sharpening, indicating that the apex has been reached. It is also known as a "wire edge". While a burr can make a knife seem sharp initially, it is weak and will fold over with minimal use, making the knife dull quickly. Honing a knife on a honing rod/steel straightens the burr making your knife again feel sharp, but only starts the process over again. After a few cuts the burr folds over again and the knife again is dull. To create an edge that stays sharp, the burr must be removed.
Other sharpeners throw sharpened knives in a box for their delivery to you. The knives then rattle around against each other on the way to you. This clanging of blades into each other dulls them as they travel from the sharpener to your kitchen. At Simply Sharp we keep every blade safe in a blade guard while traveling. We protect the edge so that it as sharp when delivered as it is right off the strop.
